2021 NCSPA Member Spotlight-Brasfield Club Lambs and Dorsets

Each month on the first and fifteenth, we will spotlight our members in a new series. We want to promote you, our members, to showcase the work you put into raising sheep. If you are interested in having your farm spotlighted, email Education Committee Chair: Amy Kidd at followyourarrowfarm@gmail.com

The first of each month will spotlight a member farm that primarily markets their lamb products and the fifteenth of the month will spotlight a member farm that primarily markets their fiber products. We look forward to promoting our members and hope you enjoy this new series.

February Lamb Farm Spotlight: Brasfield Club Lambs and Dorsets

John and Laurie Brasfield have been raising sheep since 1986 in King, NC. John has served as president, a couple of times, and is currently serving as vice-president of the NCSPA. He was one of the founding members of the association in 1983.

John and Laurie run 100 ewes on 10.5 acres. They raise both registered Dorsets and commercial Hamp cross sheep. They sell club lambs, commercial and registered breeding stock, and freezer lamb.

John is retired from the NC Cooperative Extension Service in Stokes County as both Livestock Agent and County Extension Director.
