2021 NCSPA Member Spotlight-Rare Find Farm

Each month on the first and fifteenth, we will spotlight our members in a new series. We want to promote you, our members, to showcase the work you put into raising sheep. If you are interested in having your farm spotlighted, email Education Committee Chair: Amy Kidd at followyourarrowfarm@gmail.com OR Marketing and Promotion Chair: Helene Dooley at skybrookefarm@gmail.com

The first of each month will spotlight a member farm that primarily markets their lamb products, and the fifteenth of the month will spotlight a member farm that primarily markets their fiber products. We look forward to promoting our members and hope you are enjoying our series.

March Fiber Farm Spotlight: Rare Find Farm

Rare Find Farm has been in operation since 1994 and has been raising Shetland Sheep since 2002. Rare Find Farm has the unmatched wool quality and superior animals with bloodlines shared across the state.

They are located in the piedmont part of North Carolina, about 20 miles SW of Raleigh.  They utilize their land and manage their animals while maintaining their land.

They decided on Shetland’s not by chance.  They have shown quality animals since 2003 and have many flock champions. In 2007, the farm won the coveted Supreme Champion Ewe at the NC State Fair. These Shetland sheep are full of personality and provide fabulous fiber. They have incorporated UK bloodlines, giving them wonderful, crimpy fleeces. One of their white fleeces won Best White Fleece at the Mountain State Fair in 2008.
