Igo Primo 800×480 Windows Ce 60

Additionally, software settings seem to be tightly controlled in Windows Mobile, which could explain the appearance of two different brightness options when using the Display Dock and in Windows 10. Although the Liquid Jade Primo also has the sleepier screen style that was made popular in the Lumia 950, it seems that LCDs brightness can be easily controlled with and without the Display Dock, without the need to adjust the hardware level in the device, and those settings may be set in the motherboard. Acer should make that clear in its documentation for the phone.

The Liquid Jade Primo is a solid Windows CE phone in many ways. We lauded its good camera, solid video performance and lack of bloatware. But its not a do-all phone, and it doesnt match the Lumias appeal. For example, the 3.5mm headphone jack is a no-go for most users, but who wants to invest a pile of money in a phone to only use as a phone anyway? The phone is available in a few markets, but it isnt for U.S. consumers.

The Acer Liquid Jade Primo. This kind of phone is for the person who loves to be the center of attention. At a retail price of $399, the Acer Liquid Jade Primo pales in comparison to the handset at the top of this list, the $549 Microsoft Lumia 950. But lets go over some of the things youre getting for your money. First, theres a 5.2-inch display with a 2,500-by-1,440 screen resolution. There arent many phones out there that have a screen this large. But the 5.5-inch screen on the Acer Liquid Jade Primo, with its 2,870-by-1,430-pixel resolution, takes up the majority of its chassis, putting those (relatively) small bezels on an uncomfortable viewing angle. Its a small sacrifice to get a bigger screen on this somewhat chunky phone.

The Liquid Jade Primo has a Snapdragon 808 CPU which is very powerful and a large 3GB of RAM on board to take advantage of it. As with the lower-end Lumia 950, not much was noticeably faster on the Liquid Jade Primos display, but it was definitely faster than the Lumia 950. For example, opening a new web page in Microsofts Internet Explorer 10 took 8 seconds on the 950, but only 3 seconds on the Liquid Jade Primo. Its not the worst phone to ever launch, but it could have been much better.
On the plus side, the Liquid Jade Primo has a 5-inch screen; that puts it in the same range as the Lumia 950. The 1280 x 720 screen has good viewing angles, as youll see below. The XGA resolution may not be ideal for everyone, but it provided an average 1.2Mpx resolution in a 5-inch screen. The screen was noticeably brighter than the similar version on the Lumia 950, and it provided roughly the same viewing angles. The high brightness boosted battery life on the otherwise dismal display, too.
The liquid-cooled high-end Snapdragon 810 had even more oomph than the newer low-end Snapdragon 808 in our rundown. The Liquid Jade Primo maxed out at 2.2 fps at the maximum resolution. I could up the shot count to 1.7 fps. That s about as fast as the average shutter speed.
In general, the Liquid Jade Primo performs just as well as the Lumia 950, and slightly worse than the older Note 5. But while the Note remained relatively cool throughout, the Liquid Jade Primo warmed up fast.
