Convert decimal to string

I need help converting a decimal string to a string. I need to convert the string the amount of decimal places. If the decimal is 20, then I need a string with a value of “Twenty” If the decimal is 22, then a string value of “Twenty Two”. I have a list of decimal and strings. I need to take a string and convert them into another string so that each decimal gets converted into it’s respective string value. The list is quite long and I have to parse a lot. The max is two decimal places, but sometimes it could be more, sometimes less. How do I do that? Should I just use a try/except statement?

A:

Maybe you’d prefer to wrap the decimal in a custom class?
# this class represents whatever you think a decimal is
class Decimal(object):
def __init__(self, base, val):
self.base = base
self.val = val

return Decimal(self.base, self.val + other.val)

def __mul__(self, other):
return Decimal(self.base, self.val * other)

def __truediv__(self, other):
return Decimal(self.base, self.val / other)

def __floordiv__(self, other):
return Decimal(self.base, self.val // other)

def __pow__(self, other):
if isinstance(other, Decimal):
return Decimal(self.base, self.val ** other)
else:
return Decimal(self.base, self.val ** other)

# you could create a list of these to store the decimals
decimal_list = [Decimal(’10’, 1), Decimal
