Education Update

2020 has been a year of ups and downs for all of us. The North Carolina Sheep Producers Association has embraced the craziness of the year while still offering educational workshops. During the summer of 2020, our workshop presenters zoomed with members and sheep enthusiasts. Topics included marketing meat, getting ready for breeding/fall care, fiber preparation, and livestock guardian dogs. We averaged about seventeen for each workshop. In the fall, we had an in-person small, socially distant beginner shearing workshop. Stuart Matthews presented with NCSPA’s vice president John Brasfield assisting.

Everyone enjoyed learning and was able to shear two sheep. We look forward to offering more opportunities in 2021, including lamb farm and fiber farm promotion. If you would like your farm promoted, please let us know. We will be reaching out to each member. If you have suggestions for future workshops, please contact Amy Kidd, Education Committee Chair, at followyourarrowfarm@gmail.com
